The Captain

Captain is a decent warrior, and an excellent leader. He can choose to work alone, hire a native group, or join a team, and expect good success. More than any other character, Captain provides the most flexibility in game strategy.

Solo

If Captain chooses to work alone, he should avoid the largest monsters, large groups of monsters, and the Bashkars. If you are fortunate enough to get some Gold early, hire the Patrol, Guard or Soldiers and venture into the more dangerous areas. Making war is a good choice, especially against the Bashkars or the Black Knight.

Team

Captain is best at the dwellings, and can quickly boost the firepower of smaller groups. He is a solid combatant, and can take either offensive or defensive chores. Also, his positive relationships with so many groups are a great aid in selling and bartering.

Combat

Much like Amazon, Captain should tend to his armor. Acquiring a heavier weapon greatly increases his chances. Stay away from larger monster groups and Tremendous monsters.

Pitfalls

Captain does not have a Heavy move chit. Also, he should tread the Woods tiles carefully, if at all, since the numerous and mounted Bashkars will block and attack him.

Strategies

Acquiring a Medium weapon, or a missile weapon should be a priority if going solo. Otherwise, save your Gold for hiring. Consider selling some of your equipment to finance a campaign. Once you've got a force, find and crush the Bashkars and Woodfolk, or seek out the Bats, Goblins, or campaign chits.
