The Swordsman

Overview Character strategy page originally posted on MagicRealm.net

Swordsman is a shadowy opportunist, ready to take advantage of weakened opponents, and quick and clever enough to create his own opportunities.

Solo

Swordsman can work alone, in a way. He must stay close to other characters or the dwellings, though, since he is not really able to battle through some of the areas. His best options are bartering with other characters, trading with natives and visitors, running the Missions, or harassing other single characters.

Team

The addition of Swordsman can boost a group looking to play catch up with a rival group. His alliance with the Rogues allow him to throw together a raid party quickly. He is a good spy, and should consider trading this service for protection or gold. Lastly, Swordsman can work as an assassin, striking at wounded or weaker characters.

Combat

The shorter any given combat lasts the better. Swordsman relies on speed and luck, both of which wane as battles draw out. Beware of larger opponents, and make use of ambushes when possible. Acquiring a shield, or the Living sword can make a big difference.

Pitfalls

Swordsman's penchant for trouble, lack of armor and Light vulnerability spell danger if caught by surprise. As tempting as it can be, resist causing any one character too much grief.

Strategies

Whether spy, scout, merchant or assassin, your general strategy remains the same; always stay one step ahead. Make sure you trade at every dwelling, then sell the knowledge of important items. If that works, offer to make the purchase (discounted for you) for the other characters - for a fee of course.
